A question that gets asked here often is, "how many AutoSocks should I use for an all wheel drive vehicle?"
Ideally, you would put AutoSocks on all your wheels. However, you could probably get away with putting them on your front tires. We do not recommend this though but it might work. It is a very strong might as well. If you want to be as safe as possible like we recommend then we recommend having traction devices on your wheels.
How do I figure out what size of AutoSocks I need?
The first thing to do is to figure out what size your tires are either by researching via a search engine or by looking at the sidewall of your tires. Once you have an idea of what size tire you have then you can use our AutoSock sizing system to find out which one you need. All you do is click the size of tire you have and it will take you to the AutoSock that fits that size of tire.
What if I have different sizes of tires on my vehicle?
It is rare but it does happen from time to time. All you have to do is find out the sizes of all your tires and then use the sizing system we provide to get the appropriate AutoSocks for your vehicle.
What happens if I have a normal vehicle that is not four wheel drive and put AutoSocks on all four wheels? Can I go as fast as I want, right?
No. The number of AutoSocks you have on your vehicle does not change the overall durability of the AutoSock itself. It also does not allow you to go over the 30 mph speed limit as recommended by the AutoSocks manufacturer.
Are these better or worse than chains or cables?
The answer is neither. They are different. All traction devices are good but they all have their own shortcomings such as AutoSock propensity to get damaged when used on regular pavement. Cables and chains do not have this problem but they damage the street they ride on when used in this fashion. Most places have made it illegal to use chains or cables on streets without snow or ice because of this fact. You have to look at the upsides and downsides of every product to make a determination on which option is right for your situation.
