GMC is an American automobile division of General Motors. Founded in 1912 as General Motors Truck Company from the merger of Rapid Motor Vehicle Company, and Reliance Motor Car Company (both purchased by GM in 1911). GMC manufactures pickup trunks, light-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, vans, and SUVs. In the past, GMC has made emergency vehicles, motorhomes and transit buses. GMC is mainly marketed in the North American market, selling pickup and commercial trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles, buses, and military vehicles.
